Las
Vegas nightspots do their best to live up to the
town's around-the-clock reputation. Some literally
do stay open 24 hours a day, but the closing time
for most ranges from 2 to 5 am. We've compiled a
list of the best night clubs for you.
We're proud to feature some of Las Vegas' best
nightclubs, bars, and lounges. Your Las Vegas
nightlife experience begins here.
55 Degrees
At the top of the escalator that leads to Mandalay
Place from Mandalay Bay is Las Vegas' newest and
literally coolest wine bar. Offering glassware,
paraphernalia and a wide range of vino, with an
equally wide price range, 55 Degrees also contains a
small bar and table. Choose from the menu or buy a
bottle yourself. The staff is knowledgeable and
friendly. Sunday-Thursday 10 am-11 pm, Friday and
Saturday 10 am-midnight. 3930 Las Vegas Blvd. S.,
South Strip, Las Vegas. Phone 702-632-9355.
The Bar at Times Square
Sing along with dueling pianos in this bar with a
New York-pub feel. Sunday-Thursday 8 pm-2 am, Friday
and Saturday 8 pm-3 am. US$10 cover charge weekends
after 7:30 pm. New York New York Hotel and Casino,
3790 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas. Phone
702-740-6050.
Caramel
Light playing on sheer fabric in shades of caramel
and brown creates an ambience reflecting this
lounge's name, as do the specialty martinis and
other concoctions. The designer has cleverly tucked
booths along the walls to invite tete-a-tetes while
filling the center area with long tables to serve
the party crowd. A menu of sandwiches, salads and
light seafood bites appeases the appetite. The
musical fare is an eclectic mix of hip-hop, rock,
Tony Bennett and more. 5 pm-4 am. 3600 Las Vegas
Blvd. S. (in the Bellagio Hotel and Casino), Las
Vegas. Phone 702-693-8300.
Coyote Ugly
Like its New York namesake, the bar features female
bartenders who dance and perform stunts on the bar.
Audience participation is part of the fun. Daily 6
pm-2 am. US$10 cover charge after 10 pm. New York
New York Hotel and Casino, 3790 Las Vegas Blvd. S.,
Las Vegas. Phone 702-740-6330.
Ellis Island Restaurant and
Brewery
Despite the name, this bar isn't at New York New
York. It claims the widest selection of karaoke
songs in Las Vegas, though, and although we haven't
conducted a scientific study on the issue, we're
inclined to believe it. Appetizers served, with more
substantial food available in the nearby restaurant.
Nightly 9 pm-3 am. 4178 Koval Lane (0.5 mi/1 km east
of the Strip—behind Bally's), Las Vegas. Phone
702-733-8901.
I-Bar
The newest ultra-lounge in Vegas is in the center of
the gaming floor at the Rio. Designed to mostly
muffle the sounds of slot machines, it's a welcome
oasis. Bottle service is available at the tables,
but there is also a bar. Nightly from 4. Rio
All-Suite Hotel and Casino, 3700 W. Flamingo Road,
Las Vegas. Phone 702-777-7777.
Napoleon's
For a more sophisticated evening, drop by
Napoleon's, a champagne bar in the Paris casino.
Jazz combos play nightly, a dance floor is
available, and it offers an amazing happy-hour
carving station, free with an alcoholic-drink
purchase. The flights are highly recommended.
Sunday-Thursday 4 pm-2 am, Friday and Saturday 4
pm-3 am. Paris Hotel and Casino, 3655 Las Vegas
Blvd. S., Central Strip, Las Vegas. Phone
702-946-7000.
Red Square
Even though you might be overwhelmed by the martini
selection, don't lose your head (as the statue of
Lenin outside has). If you really want a liquid
lunch, try the piquant "Springtime in Baku"—and at
least fortify yourself with the portabello-mushroom
appetizer. It just may sustain you in this vodka
paradise. The length of the entire bar is made of
ice, designed to keep your drinks chilled. Buy a
US$250 bottle of vodka and you can drink in the
vodka locker, which stays at 5 degrees F/-15 degrees
C; the cost includes the necessary fur jacket and
hat. Daily 5 pm-midnight for food, Sunday-Thursday
till 2 am, weekends till 4 am. Mandalay Bay Resort,
3950 Las Vegas Blvd. S., South Strip, Las Vegas.
Phone 702-632-7407.
Shadow: A Bar at Caesars
A stylish space that isn't afraid to add in a little
soft-core sexiness: Female dancers perform in softly
lit areas behind translucent screens. The
silhouettes suggest they're naked. Between sets, the
performers—now definitely clothed—mingle with the
crowd. (They're officially called "concierges,"
though they probably wouldn't be much help in
procuring tickets to Mystere.) Ongoing entertainment
is also provided by the flashy bartenders who flip
bottles, a technique called "flairing." Also
occasional karaoke. Bar open 11 am-2 am weekdays,
open continuously from Friday noon to Monday 4 am.
Caesars Palace, 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Central
Strip, Las Vegas. Phone 702-731-7110.
Triple 7 Brewpub
Twelve big-screen TVs allow for maximum sports viewing, without a bad
seat in the house. Make sure you try one of the five
brewed-on-the-premises beers and some of the superior bar food—there's
even a sushi and oyster bar. Daily 11 am-7 am. Main Street Station, 200
N. Main St., downtown, Las Vegas. Phone 702-387-1896.
V Bar
Created by the owners of New York's Lotus and Los Angeles' Sunset Room,
this bar angles for the stylish set. Just beyond the velvet ropes, and
barely visible through the teasing windows, lies a highly styled

and pricey cognacs are available. DJs spin the tunes on the weekend.
